Rev. Michael Copeland

The Roanoke District of the Virginia Conference of the United Methodist Church has recently announced the appointment of the Rev. Michael Copeland as Pastor of St. Paul UMC in Christiansburg. Rev. Copeland, wife Donna, and children Samuel and Leah, come to St. Paul from Trinity UMC in Lexington, VA. A native of Oak Ridge, TN, Rev. Copeland studied sacred music at Carson-Newman College and received a B.A. in elementary education from Oklahoma Baptist University. He received his Master of Divinity degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and his clinical pastoral education from the Medical College of VA hospital. Rev. Copeland spent four years serving Southern Baptist churches as Associate Pastor and Pastor before joining the Virginia Conference of the United Methodist Church in 1988.

The former pastor of St. Paul UMC, The Rev. Dr. David Goodpasture, has been appointed to the Thalia UMC in Virginia Beach. Dr. Goodpasture's wife, Rev. Jannette Clavez, has been appointed to Colonial Avenue UMC in Norfolk.
